On the occasion of World Refugee Day, the European Union said that it remains committed to supporting refugees, returnees, internally displaced persons, and host communities in Afghanistan.
On Saturday, June 20, the EU wrote on X that it is working together with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to support Afghan refugees and migrants.
The European Union said it supports ‘protection, livelihoods, and durable solutions’ to help Afghans rebuild their lives with dignity.
The EU emphasized its continued support while noting that the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan still faces serious economic and social challenges.
The deportation of migrants from Iran and Pakistan also continues, and returning families face problems such as poverty, unemployment, lack of shelter, limited access to health and education services, and a shortage of livelihood opportunities.
