Lithuania summoned Russia’s envoy and issued a formal protest over the July 2 strikes, urging accountability and an immediate end to attacks.

The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry handed a protest note to the representative of the Russian embassy over the massive strikes on Ukraine that had been ongoing in recent days.

According to an official statement from the Lithuanian MFA, published on X, Lithuanian diplomats have voiced a firm protest.

Reaction of Lithuanian diplomacy

In the note, the Lithuanian MFA strongly condemns all Russian attacks against Ukraine and emphasizes that the Kremlin, by its actions, shows an unwillingness to stop the aggression and continues terror against the civilian population, violating international humanitarian law.

The MFA stressed that Lithuania will continue to seek accountability for all those responsible for crimes against Ukraine and demand that Russia stop its aggression, withdraw troops from internationally recognized Ukrainian territory, and compensate for the damages caused by the war.

Information on the consequences of the Kyiv attack

According to Ukrainian official sources, on July 2 Russian forces massively attacked Kyiv with drones and missiles; damage was recorded in various parts of the city, including significant destruction noted in a residential building in the Darnytskyi district.

As a result of this nighttime attack, 30 people were killed, official sources report.

Lithuania reiterates its support for Ukraine and calls for an immediate end to the aggression by the Russian Federation.
