Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forté on Thursday confirmed a federal criminal search warrant was issued at a food manufacturing business in Kansas City, Missouri. Forté, in a statement posted on social media, said it was not immigration related. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was not involved in the execution of the search warrant, he said. The sheriff said federal agents later identified an unregistered sex offender at the business and requested assistance from the sheriff’s Sex Offender Registration and Enforcement Unit. A sheriff’s detective arrested the person and transported them to the Jackson County Detention Center. Forté said the sheriff’s office has been in communication regularly.”This morning, after execution of the search warrant, I had a conversation with the local Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations Kansas City,” Forté said in the statement. “For months we have communicated regularly. We have a great professional relationship and we both know we are always a phone call or text away if needed.”
