Podcaster Joe Rogan was a featured commentator for the UFC’s Freedom 250 Event on the White House’s South Lawn. Rogan may have had his apprehensions leading up to the event, but was thrilled with how it turned out.
“That was the wildest experience that I’ve ever had in my 20-whatever years of calling combat sports. There’s nothing even close,” he said after the event.
Although Rogan has a long history with the UFC, it was somewhat surprising that he participated in the event given how critical he has been of the current administration’s conflict in Iran and the way he has seesawed back and forth on his support for U.S. President Donald Trump and condemned the MAGA movement.
“That phrase sucks. America is great. Make America greater? I’m down,” Rogan said of MAGA in March. “But MAGA, and then it becomes a movement of a bunch of dorks? A lot of them are these really weird, f-cking uninteresting,” Rogan said back in March.
Rogan appears to be willing to give MAGA another chance, or at the very least, hear it out. According to a scoop from Politico correspondent Adam Wren, Rogan will be hosting one of the movement’s most promient figures on his podcast.
“Scoop: (Vice President JD Vance) is expected to record an episode of Joe Rogan’s podcast today in Austin, Texas, per person familiar,” Wren reported on Tuesday.
“Comes as Vance was previously scheduled to meet with Hill Republicans,” Wren added as a follow-up.
It’s not clear what exactly prompted Vance’s imminent appearance on the show, but Trump is scheduled to address the nation on Thursday evening, which begs the question: are the developments connected?
