An Illinois federal court issued a new order preserving deportation protections for 4,000 Burmese immigrants, a day after an appellate court reversed an earlier court stay on the migrant relief.
The Friday order from District Judge Matthew Kennelly maintains Temporary Protected Status for immigrants from Burma until Aug. 7.
The US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit had reversed a previous order from Kennelly that blocked termination of TPS for the country.
