EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – A local restaurant transformed its grounds into a bustling marketplace Sunday, hosting more than 30 independent businesses for its third annual end-of-summer vendor fair.
The event, hosted by Heartbreakers Bar and Grill, featured a wide variety of local vendors selling items ranging from custom clothing to specialty food.
Shannon Gilmore, the general manager of Heartbreakers and Next Door Pizza Pub, said she organizes the event solely to support the surrounding community.
“I do not do it for any type of profit,” Gilmore said. “It is really just to bring the community a safe and free place to bring their family to do some early holiday shopping and to just kind of have a great day.”
To keep the event accessible, Gilmore keeps reservation fees for vendors extremely low. The proceeds from those fees are used to hire local musicians to perform at the fair.
“The money goes right back into the community,” Gilmore added.
In addition to shopping, the fair featured a free community raffle. Attendees received a free raffle ticket for every booth they visited. Vendors gave items as part of their vendor fee; winners were drawn every 30 minutes, allowing visitors to claim prizes throughout the day.
Organizers noted that ideal weather conditions contributed to a strong turnout, a welcome shift from previous years that saw high heat and humidity.
