US military commanders have warned Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth that continuing large-scale military operations against Iran could strain American forces and reduce the country’s readiness to respond to threats in other regions.
Several senior US commanders had warned Hegseth that prolonged combat operations against Iran were exhausting military resources and could weaken the US ability to address threats elsewhere, TASS reports.
The assessments were reportedly presented by the chiefs of staff of the US Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as commanders responsible for operational areas including Europe, Asia and South America.
US military leaders believe the deployment of additional forces to the Middle East amid the conflict with Iran is limiting their ability to carry out missions and properly train personnel in other regions.
US commanders view the military campaign against Iran as having continued for “too long” and requiring significant resources.
Pentagon Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs Sean Parnell told reporters that he would not comment on internal assessments within the US military.
