Two way Boston Celtics big man Amari Williams helped his British National Team blow out the Slovakian National team 97-72 in FIBA 2029 World Cup EuroBasket prequalifier play. Held at the home arena for Great Britain in Vertu Arena at Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom, Williams and Britain led for almost all of the contest.

The Nottingham native put up just 2 points in the win in 21 minutes of floor time, but also logged 9 rebounds, 6 assists, a steal and a block to help secure the victory. Williams made the most of the tilt on a night when he could not connect efficiently from the floor leaning into the rest of his game while going 1-of-3 from the floor overall.

The University of Kentucky alum took no shots from beyond the arc in this contest, and went 0-for-2 at the free throw line.

With the victory, the British National Team has improved to 1-0 in the second round of Group E EuroBasket play to date.

Great Britain will next take on Switzerland on Nov. 29, 2026 at a venue yet to be determined — and almost certainly without Williams, who will be playing for both the Maine and Boston Celtics during their 2026-27 NBA regular season.
