Around 35 kilometres away from the city centre, Parque Warner is a great place to give your holidays in the Spanish capital a little bit more adrenaline. It is not complicated to get to the park: you can drive or take public transport.

Depending on where the visitor is staying, if they are in the city centre, they can take line 3 of the Metro in the direction of El Casar. There, visitors must get off at the Villaverde Bajo-Cruce station. When leaving the metro station, there is a bus terminal, where people must find the bus stop for line 412. There are two buses with the same number; one of them is direct, while the other makes other stops before arriving at the park. You can pay for the bus ticket on board with cash or a bank card; it costs €3. The last bus from the park to Madrid is at 12:30 am.

Arriving at the park

While on the bus, you can already tell when the park is getting closer and closer. The indications are colourful, and it is possible to feel the anticipation of the most curious passengers, in this case, the children.

The park opens at 12 pm, and the queue starts to form well before that. It is possible to buy tickets online, but there are also ticket shops in the park for those who prefer to pay in cash or have additional questions.

Besides the main park, with the most iconic roller coasters, it is also possible to visit Warner Beach; however, since it was a one-day visit, I preferred to go enjoy the roller coasters, despite the 40ºC that was felt that day.

No food is allowed at the park, so it is important not to bring any food, since security guards check the luggage and take out all food from the bags. This way, to avoid any food waste, it is important to follow these guidelines. There are various food options in the park, at different prices.

The attractions

I am a big fan of roller coasters, but I have never had the chance to ride such intense rides as the ones at Parque Warner Madrid. I remember feeling the adrenaline of 180º and 360º in other parks, but nothing compared to what I felt at Parque Warner Madrid.

As expected, the most intense attractions have the longest wait times. However, you can check wait times during the day with the Parque Warner Madrid app. You can also get the Correcaminos pass, which works like a fast pass and helps you avoid queues for rides with longer wait times.

My first ride was Stunt Fall, which aims to make riders feel the emotions stunt actors experience while performing their scenes. Seated on a chair, with protection on my chest but my legs free, the anticipation of the ride is insane. While waiting, you can see the loops and that it goes high-speed backwards too. This is the fastest attraction in the park, reaching 115 kilometres per hour. It starts backwards, with the ride climbing backwards. At the highest the pressure point, you feel zero gravity, as is no longer on the seat back but on the ride’s chest protection. That’s when the fun starts. After the launch, there is a series of loops and inversions that take your breath away. When it seems to be over, there is another tower, and the whole path is done again, but backwards.

The adrenaline barely had time to leave my body when I went to the Superman: La Attracción de Acero. Using my Correcaminos pass, I waited less than five minutes, avoiding a 40-minute queue. Reaching 100 kilometres per hour, this ride is intense and amazing. With consecutive loops, it really made me feel like I was Superman, flying to save the world. The leg shake after the ride is definitely the charm of it.

I was very interested when I read that Parque Warner Madrid had a wooden roller coaster. Resembling a mine train, the Coaster Express reaches 95 kilometres per hour on a wooden platform, which shakes once in a while to give a much more intense feeling of the attraction. With no loops but tight curves, it is an amazing attraction for all family members to enjoy.

I was a bit nervous about the Shadows of Arkham. Although knowing that it reaches only 83 kilometres per hour, the tight 360º loop was freaking me out a bit. However, I was still brave enough to go on the Batman-themed roller coaster and enjoy the best of it. After a 25-minute queue, this coaster also has chest protection. There are plenty of fast and tight curves that will make you scream, but make you happy after leaving the ride.

Besides having loads of fun in the mentioned rides, I must highlight the Batman: Gotham City Escape. Although the waiting time was massive, when on the ride, I realised that it was worth waiting such a long time for it. With a thematic and immersive waiting experience, when entering the seating on the ride, you are basically riding to help Batman defeat Joker. With turns, loops and various launches, this is clearly an unforgettable ride that you will certainly miss when leaving the park.

Family-friendly rides

Other incredible rides are worth mentioning. While the attractions mentioned before may be more targeted at an older audience, Parque Warner Madrid has the Cartoon Village, dedicated to the Looney Tunes cartoons we all know, where the most family-friendly rides are.

With rides like Correcaminos Bip Bip or the Tom & Jerry Picnic en el Parque, children will certainly enjoy the best of the rides aimed at them. There are also the Scooby Doo cups, and even the chance to extinguish fires in buildings, with water targeting burning windows, but don’t tell children the fire is fake; let them feel happy for saving the world.

Speaking of water, with temperatures like these, even in the main park, there are attractions where you can get wet and cool off a bit. There are the Cataratas Selvajes and Rio Bravo, where you can have an experience similar to a bath, which will certainly feel like being in paradise.

Time to eat

For lunch, I decided to have a lighter meal so I could enjoy more rides. For that, I went to a shop, which is similar to a grocery store, where sandwiches and drinks, with or without alcohol, are available.

Dinner was a bit different. Since the park closes at midnight, I thought it would be nice to try Porky Pig at Cartoon Village, where I enjoyed a great burger, ending this fantastic day at Parque Warner Madrid.

A great time

My time in the park was amazing, and I will certainly return to repeat not only my favourites, but also the attractions I didn’t have time to visit. Parque Warner Madrid is a great, accessible choice for families who want to have fun while feeling nostalgic.
