Here are Wednesday’s latest updates:
■ Israeli forces demolished 35 Palestinian structures in an effort to clear access roads leading to newly established Israeli settlements in the northern West Bank, a statement from Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said.
■ Britain will decide the scope of measures it will take against Israeli settlements in the West Bank according to the actions of Israel’s next government, a senior British source told reporters.
■ Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Indonesia welcomed Britain’s decision to ban imports from Israeli settlements in the West Bank, the countries said in a joint statement.
■ An Israeli settler was sentenced to 13 years in prison for killing 47-year-old Palestinian woman Aisha Rabi in the West Bank in 2018. The convict was a minor at the time of the crime, and his identity is under a gag order.
■ Several Palestinians were wounded in an Israeli airstrike on al-Shati refugee camp in western Gaza City, Palestinian reports and medical officials said. Israeli strikes were also reported in the central Nuseirat refugee camp.
■ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu toured Mount Hermon’s summit in southern Syria, saying Israel “will not allow any terror army to establish itself on our border.” On Iran, the prime minister said Israel was “very close” to defeating the regime.
■ A surge in construction has been observed at Iran’s Pickaxe Mountain site, which hosts the Natanz nuclear complex, CNN reported. According to an analysis of satellite imagery, the construction continued during the U.S.-Iran war.
■ The UN nuclear watchdog’s 35-nation board of governors has passed a resolution reporting Iran to the UN Security Council for the first time in 20 years for breaching its non-proliferation obligations, diplomats said.
