A joint venture led by Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha has taken delivery of the newly built LNG carrier Puteri Kelantan for Petronas LNG.
Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding delivered the vessel in China on 24 September 2026.
Puteri Kelantan is the same vessel type as two LNG carriers delivered to Petronas LNG in May and June 2026.
The vessel was named during a ceremony on 2 September. Representatives from Petronas LNG, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, K Line and the companies involved in the vessel’s financing and joint ownership attended the event.
Its sister vessel, Puteri Negeri Sembilan, was named during the same ceremony and is scheduled for delivery in November 2026.
“Puteri” means princess in Malay, while Kelantan and Negeri Sembilan are states in Peninsular Malaysia.
The new vessels will expand the Petronas LNG fleet and support LNG deliveries to the company’s customers.
