Suicide rate

  1. Would be curious to know if there is a correlation between how suitably a country is situated in its timezone ((daylight hours etc.) and how high the suicide rate is, all else being relatively equal. E.g. Is Hungary’s high suicide rate compared to Romania due to it being on the very edge GMT+1, versus Romania’s GMT+2?

  2. Suicide in Scandinavia is often caused due to winther depression.
People go to work in darkness and go home in darkness. Even in daylight you risk not seeing the sun as its too cloudy and can last for months.

D-vitamin pills is a life saver during these times.

Summer is however completely opposite with only few hours of darkness.

  3. Turkey, especially Sanliurfa is one of the first, if not *the* place where the sedentary lifestyle began, I guess they got used to it and we’re still struggling

  4. I think the main reason that Lithuania is so high, because everyone here is so smart that there’s a very high chance that they’ll succeed at suicide

  5. Czechia: “Slovakia? Are you happy on your own?”

“You bet I am! What about you?” 🙂

    “I… feel cold.”

    🙁

    *Gives Czechia a comforting hug*
