Honestly, I’m tired of people who say/write that Maignan (Milan’s goalkeeper) is the strongest this season, as you can see on “GS” (goals conceded) Maignan statistically speaking not strong compared to Sommer (Inter Milan) or Szczęsny (Juventus) who have far superior statistics. This is my opinion.

    Personally I think Pioli’s adventure at AcMilan has come to the end. We will see what next year will bring.

  4. Inter fan here, and Maignan is not a bad GK, the problem is that his defence line is playing like absolute trash

  5. ‘Goals conceded’ is a value that cannot be relied exclusively on GKs.

    Purely on a tactical aspect, you have to consider how each team plays (for example, Juventus defence is pretty solid, but they’re play style doesn’t really generate multiple xG).

    Milan unfortunately isn’t producing as many goals as expected, but that isn’t because of their play style or formation (currently they have been playing with 433); in fact, in this specific case, I would blame the defence – even if they aren’t playing with an high defence line, they keep conceding goals.

    That, in addition to the inability to score goals efficiently, creates an instability that cannot be easily balanced.

    They’re lacking of creativity (I don’t see Pioli changing tactics mid-game), but this is something that they’re dragging since all 2023.

  7. This shows that you haven’t seen Milan matches. Maignan isn’t conceding because he’s a bad goalie. He’s conceding because 1- Milan have no healthy CBs. 2- Pioli’s tactics.

    It’s actually a miracle that we conceded this many, should be at least double. Just watch the Atalanta match, he had incredible saves.

  11. Might be a troll post anyway, but still: its not even the point you are making, its the argument itself thats stupid. Goals conceded obviously doesnt say much about a goalkeepers ability. And even though i actually would (as a milan fan myself) agree that Maignan hasnt been as good as in previous seasons, overall hes still the best GK in serie A, and i just honestly wouldnt change him for sommer or anyone else. But whatever his form may be, he isnt even remotely the reason we concede so many goals. Its that we have a defence that even if fit is shaky and seems unfocused af at times, we right now have one singular trained CB left in our lineup that isnt injured and i do not want to get started on the tactical problems and every milan fans bald best friend on the bench. Blaming maignan generally and especially based on that statistjc is nonsensical. So, as a milan fan, Im not angy my friend, im just disappointed.
