‘There has been no let up in the fighting over Christmas’ • FRANCE 24 English

There’s been no letup in the fighting over Christmas with Palestinian authorities saying that over a 100 people have now been killed in an Israeli air strike on a refugee camp in central Gaza they have said that the previous night was one of the deadliest in 80 Days of warfare this is Israel

Continues to Shell and bombard the Gaza Strip as it keeps up its offensive now the Israeli Army has said that it is reviewing the incident uh but that it is committed to international law war and minimizing the harm to civilians it’s also continued to accuse Hamas for the

Civilian death toll blaming them of operating in in builtup areas and using human Shields accusation that Hamas for its part continues to deny now much of the Palestinian territory has been left in Ruins a huge majority of the population has now been displaced from their homes and uh many of the Gaza

Strips hospitals are now at Breaking Point the World Health Organization LED missions in into Northern Gaza over the weekend they have said that uh the situation is deteriorating badly they’ve warned of growing desperation and uh warned that people have now been stealing from Aid trucks as they suffer

From starvation one of the emergency coordinators has warned of the risk of famine Luke meanwhile in Egypt the negotiations are ongoing to find a solution uh to this crisis that has been going on as you said for 80 days now uh but uh this this plan is running into a

Good deal of resistance so far there is a great deal of resistance to the Egyptian plan on both sides both Hamas and its allies Islamic Jihad have rejected uh the proposal to install a new truce uh they have refused to give up power in the Gaza Strip in return for

What would be uh a more lasting and long-term ceasefire uh the plan itself would have come in three parts it would have initially seen a two we pause in the fighting with an exchange of hostages uh 40 hostages for 120 Palestinian prisoners uh there would then have been discussions uh more

Palestinian Centric aimed at healing Rifts between fata and Hamas with the aim of uh establishing a government both in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip to look at reconstruction and eventual elections and there would ultimately have been a comprehensive ceasefire under which all hostages could potentially have been exchanged

Including Israeli soldiers now both Hamas and Islamic Jihad have been maintaining their position that any uh ultimate exchange of hostages needs to be under an all for all uh deal that would mean that all Palestinian prisoners in Israeli detention would be handed over for all the hostages that

The militant groups are holding you have to remember that before the war before October 7th Israel was holding over 5,000 Palestinian prisoners in uh in detention those numbers have now more than doubled since October the 7th so the difficulty now is in what kind of

Terms any kind of uh deal may be moving forward Israel uh has not yet rejected the the deal out out of hand but prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu appears to be digging in his feet saying on Monday that Israel would continue to prosecute its war and it would indeed intensify

Its actions so the question has to be asked what kind of pressure might be brought to bear and whether or not the is the Egyptian the the Egyptian proposal May in fact be used as a framework for any kind of future deal

There has been no break in the fighting over Christmas, said FRANCE 24’s correspondent in Jerusalem, Luke Shrago. “Palestinian authorities said over a hundred peope have now been killed in an Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp in central Gaza.” The night between Sunday and Monday was one of the dealiest in over 80 days of warfare.

  1. Christmas has nothing to do with this conflict. Keep christmas celebrations (and their suspensions) away from this conversation.

  2. Gazans are 99.9% Muslim. They trot out members of their 1-2,000 person Christian community when they try to feign tolerance to the outside world.

Christians make up less than 2% of Israel's population. So it doesn't really make sense that they would stop fighting while Hamas still has Israeli citizens as hostages and Hamas continues to shoot rockets at population centers.

  3. Do they not know at France24 that almost nobody involved actually has Christmas as their holiday? This is a war of Jews against Muslims. It is true that almost 0.05% of Gazan Palestinians are Christians, but we may be forgiven to neglect a dwindling minority that is so small.

  4. The Hamas Health Ministry does not seem to be doing anything but announcing more dead Gazans. And running hospitals that serve as terrorist centers.

  5. What happened if 7th October never occurred. This will never happen. Both sides are not innocent,. Both side are guilty. 😢😢😢😢

  6. Hmm …Jews not stopping their rounding up of Islamists from Hamas and PIJ as well as not stopping the destruction
of tunnels built by and used by the terrorists! (Tunnels paid for by stolen aid money that was supposed to be used
for humanitarian reasons.) because of a Christian holiday! Whoda thunk?

The number of Christians in Gaza are very tiny. I would wager to guess, that if the Christians in Gaza wanted
to leave that some Christian denomination, SOMEWHERE would have sponsored them.

  7. What does Christmas have to do with a middle eastern war between Jewish and criminal hamas terrorists that murder their own people?? Or did I miss something ??

  8. At the time of humanity of human beings is valueless there is no happy holidays..humanity is first to any happiness and joyful moments

  9. I'm humans and the gaza peoples are also humans and when they are killed and haven't any thing to eat how i can enjoy the happy holidays..?

  10. Son of Abraham? Do you know the God of Abraham? Explore. Look what God has for you. Don't settle. Ask Him for light and truth. God is pure love and mercy. Read the Scriptures until the end. There you will find love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faith, meekness, temperance. God loves you with eternal love.
