4. You got to give credit to Arandina. They showed up and actually tried to play football.

   Way better than Getafe.

6. Hot take: Nico Paz isn’t as good as everyone told us he was. He is definitely overrated. Despite the hype surrounding Paz, his performance fell short of expectations. His skills and abilities have been exaggerated.

   Cold take: …on the other hand, Arda is as good as we thought he would be.

8. Everyone is gonna talk about arda but nice game by vini tobias aswell, hopefully he gets some vazquez minutes. And by god endrick cant come soon enough, joselu pains my soul to watch

9. Arda and Camavinga were really good. Nico Paz is overrated.

11. Not to sound like a complete asshat, but I really wished we dominated the game a bit better considering our opposition plays in a league worse than Castilla’s.

14. The reason to watch the game tonight was for Guler and the Castilla kids. So, from best to worst:

    * Guler. There has been so much hype for him it’s crazy but he mostly lived up to it, especially given it was his debut and he’s straight off half a year of injuries. He looked sharp, confident, and hungry. Had a couple of half-chances, played some dangerous through balls, and basically any time Madrid threatened in the first half, Arda was involved. Good stuff.

    * Mario Martin. Only came in the second half and I’d already like to see more of him. Looked comfortable in midfield and as a centre back. Confident in possesion, aggressive in defense, and played a couple of delicious long balls. One to watch for sure.

    * Carillo. With Arandina having barely any possession, it’s hard to judge a CB but he looked very solid. Held the line and positioned himself very well at the rare occasions Arandine tried going forward. And when he was moved to right back, he played a delicious cross to Alvaro.

    * Alvaro. Only played 15 minutes but he tried to get involved. Nothing special and should have scored immediately after coming on but at least he was at the right time, at the right place.

    * Vinicius Tobias. Meh. Didn’t have much work at the back and didn’t provide anything up front. He was on the ball plenty but was painfully slow making decisions and often just passed to the nearest player. Didn’t show anything to suggest he might ever knock on the first team’s door.

    * Nico Paz. Oof. He played like he cared more about scoring than about the team winning. Nothing was coming off for him. Stinker of a game for Nico.

15. Mario Martin was surprisingly good. We all know Brahim is a decisive player, and changed the match in the second half. Hopefully he becomes a regular starter.

17. The boys did their homework today, great win. Arda was definitely a highlight and showed glimpses of a great player, need to see more of him tho! It would also be cool to see Alvaro be loaned to another side eventually to see how he fares, kid is still young.

19. Nico Paz is supposed to be the jewel in our academy. But the difference in class between Nico and Arda Guler is just so immense. Arda just wired different by some miles.

20. I honestly enjoyed watching Arda play. Imagine if that free kick went in. His passing & vision are great and a few times he should been played through but Nico didn’t & other times his players didn’t read his play. The shitty pitch in cold conditions makes it a rough match but the boys handled it well.

22. I wanted a clean sheet but Nacho had other plans… at least it’s a nice souvenir for their fans, they scored more goals against us than Girona this season.

    Positives:

    ARDAAAAAA finally played his first game, the passing and the ball striking were to be expected but I was pleasantly surprised by the number of runs he made and how he wanted to receive the ball vertically

    Brahim MOTM, he started off very slow but the 2nd half was all about him, involved in all 3 goals

    Carillo was one of the least talked about player at the start of the game but I thought he was our best young player tonight. Really decisive in his interventions and played the ball forward, he even went to RB at the end of the game and delivered a beautiful cross to Alvaro

    Martin played with a huge amount of confidence I liked that, don’t know if he’ll have a place on the squad but he’s a guy to remember

    Cama was amazing in the 1st half and Ceballos was good the midfield performed nicely

    Rodry and Fede came on and instantly showed their class these guys are just insanely good players

    Negatives:

    Nacho really poor game overall and he ended it by scoring an own goal, he’s regressed so much compared to last season

    Nico Paz couldn’t get going, he missed everything he attempted, not a good game from him

    Joselu scored our first penalty of the season but again one of those nights when he should have 3-4 goals

    Nice victory though and no injuries before we face Atletico
