Mama Ida Odinga became the centre of celebration on Wednesday as ODM and UDA leaders visited her at their Karen residence to mark what would have been Raila Odinga’s 81st birthday.

The leaders led by the ODM SG also gifted Mama Ida flowers.

The event, held posthumously, saw party members pay tribute to the late ODM founding leader’s legacy.

The gathering brought together a section of top ODM party leaders and those from UDA who recalled Raila’s contributions to democracy, national unity, and the growth of the ODM.

In her address, Ida called on the leadership of the ODM to
embrace dialogue as the only way to solve challenges facing the party.

“Raila
run ODM on the principle of constant consultation and always referring
to the people. It is my wish that we can preserve the party in his
honour as a matter of service to our country,” she said.

The wrangles have rocked the party barely three months after the passing of ODM leader Raila.

Raila would have called for dialogue to ensure existing issues are
addressed amicably.
