Zimbabwe joined the global community in commemorating the International Day for Universal Access to Information (IDUAI) 2025 with a landmark event in Selous, Mashonaland West Province. Under the theme “Ensuring Access to Environmental Information in the Digital Age,” the celebration was highlighted by the official launch of the Selous Digital Centre, a transformative initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide and expanding access to environmental and civic information.
The commemorations were co-hosted by the Ministry of ICT, Postal and Courier Services and the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, in partnership with UNESCO, the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ), and other key stakeholders.
Hon. Tatenda A. Mavetera, Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, emphasized the centre’s significance.
