Both sides stormed to top place in their groups with three wins out of three, but had contrasting experiences in the Round of 16.

Algeria were forced into extra time by DR Congo and needed a dramatic 119th-minute winner from Al Duhail midfielder Adil Boulbina.

By contrast, Nigeria breezed past Mozambique 4-0 with Victor Osimhen bagging a brace. Osimhen has three goals for the tournament so far, level with Algeria superstar Riyad Mahrez in joint second in the Golden Boot race.
