Rabat – Egyptian football star Mohamed Salah has commended Morocco’s hosting of the AFCON 2025 during a match press conference, saying that there “has never been an African tournament better than this.”  

Egypt secured its spot for the semi-finals after defeating Cote d’Ivoire 3-2 in a thrilling game on Saturday.

Salah expressed satisfaction with the training camp, stating that it is the best camp he has ever experienced in his life.

“I sincerely thank Morocco for their world-class hosting and security,” Salah said, extending his gratitude and continued success in the tournament.

Egypt national team coach Hosam Hassan echoed the same remarks throughout the tournament, commending Morocco’s sports infrastructure and their premier role as hosts. 

On Friday, he said Morocco’s infrastructure offers ideal conditions for players during the tournament.

“The infrastructure and conditions here are ideal. This makes every match more exciting,” Hassan said.

Throughout the competition history,  Egypt has won seven AFCON trophies, including 2006, 2008, and 2010 — with three consecutive victories.

The Egyptian team also appeared in the final game 10 times in the competition’s history.

In a similar statement on Saturday, Cameroon also thanked Morocco for the good hosting of the tournament and hospitality.

The Cameronean football federation extended its appreciation, saying: “The hospitality shown in all the places we visited reflects the remarkable preparatory work carried out by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.”
