Assam sealed the Senior Women Friendly Cricket Series 2026 with a convincing 2 – 0 victory over Namibia after registering an eight-wicket win in the second one-day match at the ACA Cricket Academy Ground in Fulung on Sunday.

Led by captain Uma Chetry, Assam had earlier won the opening match in Mangaldai on Saturday to take an unassailable lead in the two-match series.

Namibia won the toss and elected to bat but were bowled out for 118 in 31.1 overs. Captain Sune Wittmann top-scored with 58, while Wilka Mwatile made 19 and Yasmeen Khan added 18. Assam bowlers dominated the innings with Gayatri Gurung and Priyanka Kalita claiming three wickets each. Jintimoni Kalita picked up two wickets, while Nirupama Boro and Urmila Chatterjee took one apiece.

Assam chased the target comfortably, reaching 119 for two in 22.1 overs. Gayatri Gurung remained unbeaten on 54, while Rashmi Dey scored an unbeaten 34. Amontika Munda chipped in with 13. For Namibia, Saima Tuhadeleni and Sylvia Shihepo took one wicket each.

Assam had earlier won the first match by 98 runs in Mangaldai on Saturday.

Gayatri Gurung was named player of the match, best batter and player of the series after scoring 112 runs and taking four wickets across the two matches. Namibia’s Saima Tuhadeleni was adjudged best bowler of the series with four wickets.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Devajit Saikia as the chief guest, along with Assam Cricket Association president Taranga Gogoi, secretary Sanatan Das, vice president Romen Dutta, joint secretary Rajendra Singh, treasurer Anupam Deka, apex council member Mukutananda Bhattacharjya and other senior officials.

Speaking on the occasion, Saikia said he was delighted to have Namibia touring Assam and underlined the importance of such exposure tours. He said playing in different conditions would help players prepare better for domestic competitions and that exchange programmes benefit both sides.

ACA president Gogoi welcomed the Namibian team and wished them well for their future matches. He also congratulated the Assam team for their performance and expressed hope for more international tie-ups in the coming days.

In the first match at Mangaldai, Assam were bowled out for 246 in 44.1 overs after opting to bat. Gayatri Gurung top-scored with 58, while captain Uma Chetry made 57. Namibia were later dismissed for 148 in 40.1 overs, with Wilka Mwatile remaining unbeaten on 41. Rashmi Dey was the pick of the bowlers for Assam with four wickets for 44 runs.

Before the start of the match, ACA treasurer and former Mangaldai Sports Association general secretary Anupam Deka welcomed both teams.
