The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has seized a cross-border bus and discontinued its operating license following an incident of overloading.
The bus, travelling from Zimbabwe into South Africa, was intercepted on the N1 on Saturday, carrying ninety passengers, nineteen more than its certified capacity of seventy-one seated passengers.
The bus was overloaded, had no cross-border permit, and was operating without a valid operating license.

“The bus has been discontinued and is currently detained at polokwane Traffic Control Centre. Alternative transport is being arranged for the passengers to continue their journey. The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety will not tolerate lawlessness on our roads. We urge all operators to respect our laws and prioritize passenger safety,” said Limpopo Transport Media Liaison, Dali Tshifhiwa.
