WATERLOO, Iowa — A Waterloo family is mourning the loss of two children following a car crash in Kenya during a family vacation.
The crash occurred Sunday on a highway near Nairobi. Friends said the family was visiting the country on a holiday trip.
The accident claimed the lives of two boys: Emmanuel DeLeon, an eighth grader at Hoover Middle School and Kairu Winkelpleck, a preschooler.
Their older sister, Njeri DeLeon, is a junior at West High School. She remains in a medically induced coma in Kenya.
Their parents were not severely injured.
A GoFundMe page has been established to assist the family with medical expenses.
