Dambai (O/R), Jan. 12, GNA – The Certified Electrical Professional Association of the Krachi East Municipality in the Oti Region, has urged homeowners to prioritise electrical safety by hiring certified electricians for all electrical work.
This move aims to reduce the risk of electrical related fires and accidents in homes and facilities in the Municipality.
In an engagement with Mr Emmanuel Beneanan Donkor, the Oti Regional Secretary of Certified Electrical Wiring Inspector, said practitioners had the necessary training and expertise to handle electrical installations and repairs safely and efficiently.
“We are encouraging homeowners to verify the credentials of electricians before hiring them. This simple step can save lives and prevent accidents,” Mr Donkor added.
Mr Thomas Kwaku Kodua, Industrial and Certified Electrical Wiring professional of the Commission pointed to countless electrical fire outbreaks in homes, markets, and institutions, which official investigations have traced back to the negligence of uncertified individuals.
He said electrical wiring must not be seen as a mere talent but as skilled professions.
“It is imperative that only licensed professionals are permitted to perform electrical work to ensure safety and compliance with national standards,” Mr Kodua added.
The Energy Commission’s campaign underscores a critical public safety issue, positioning the choice of a certified electrician not just as a matter of quality, but as a vital decision for the protection of life and property.
