VICTIMS of a three-vehicle accident on the corner of Weltevreden Road and Westpoort Drive in Mitchells Plain on Wednesday morning all miraculously escaped death.

Traffic was backed up on the busy road from around 5.40pm when a Maroon Ford Figo failed to stop at a street sign and collided with a Toyota Quantum taxi carrying workers who were coming from the night shift and another grey vehicle.

According to reports, the driver of the Figo sustained serious injuries.

One of the passengers in the Quantum said he is thankful to be alive.

He told the Daily Voice: “We could see the driver (of the Ford Figo) being flung out of the car even though we, who were in the Quantum, were spinning around as our driver tried to get control of the vehicle.

“We were on our way home from the night shift.

“The driver of the Ford Figo jumped the stop. I hope the driver is OK because he was seriously injured.”
