Mogadishu (HOL) — Somalia has reiterated its condemnation of Iran’s recent attacks on Arab countries, expressing full support for Gulf and regional governments and calling for a unified response to protect stability in the Middle East.
Deputy Foreign Minister Hasan Mohamed Ali presented Somalia’s position during an extraordinary ministerial session of the League of Arab States held by videoconference on Tuesday. The meeting reviewed a draft resolution submitted by the Bahrain addressing Iran’s actions and its obligations under international law.
Somalia said it stands with Arab states in confronting the attacks and strongly condemned Iranian measures that threaten regional security. The government reaffirmed its commitment to international law, the protection of global maritime routes and collective efforts aimed at maintaining stability.
Officials emphasized that Arab solidarity remains a strategic priority, urging a coordinated position to safeguard national security and uphold the rules-based international order.
During the recent escalation, Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting several Gulf states, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain.
Authorities said the strikes damaged infrastructure, disrupted operations and targeted locations linked to U.S. military presence in the region, raising concerns over wider instability and the security of key economic and shipping routes.
