Two suspects were arrested in Mookgopong after allegedly trying to collect meat worth R1,2 million using fake proof of payment.

The suspects, aged 34 and 46, were arrested by police in Mookgopong, Limpopo for allegedly trying to walk away with meat worth a staggering R1.2 million without paying a cent.
According to police, the incident started on Monday, 27 April, when a general manager at an agricultural hub in Naboomspruit received a call from a man pretending to represent a catering company.
The caller placed an order and even sent ‘proof of payment’ through an e-transfer.
Fake proof of payment uncovered
But the deal quickly turned sour when the company’s finance team checked the account and found no payment had been made.
The suspects allegedly sent fake proof of payment.
Police spokesman Hlulani Mashaba said officers played along to trap the suspects after they were alerted about the incident.

“On Wednesday, 23 April 2026, a truck loaded with boxes disguised as meat was dispatched under police surveillance to the delivery location,” he said.
Suspects arrested at mall
The delivery point was set for Jubilee Mall in Hammanskraal, Tshwane.
“One suspect climbed into the truck and directed the driver, while another later joined and guided the vehicle to a parking spot for offloading,” said Mashaba.
Both suspects were arrested on the spot before they could get their hands on the goods.
The pair are expected to appear soon in the Naboomspruit Magistrates Court on fraud charges.
