A CAPE Town woman says she’s living in fear after years of abuse by her ex-boyfriend.
The 35-year-old man, who’s a teacher, allegedly abused her from June 2025.
The woman said the abuse turned violent and frightening over time. In January 2026, she said he burned her while she was asleep.
She opened a case, but he was later granted bail.
Things got worse in April, on Good Friday. She said the man attacked her again. He stabbed her on the breast. He also damaged her car and destroyed her sneakers, cut her weave into pieces, and slashed her sneakers with a knife.
“This time, before his arrest on Good Friday, he promised that he was going to kill me, and I live in fear. I ended up moving away from the place I used to live since his arrest because I don’t know what he’s going to do when he gets out,” she said.
The woman said she even got a protection order against him, but she claims it did not stop the abuse. She said while the suspect is behind bars, he keeps sending her messages.
She claims he’s asking her to withdraw the cases against him. The situation shocked her even more when she discovered a private video.

She was shocked to find that the suspect had recorded a video of her half-naked and sent it to his ex-girlfriend, she said, adding that she believes she was drugged on the day the video was recorded.
The woman said the prosecutor advised her to open another case. “This will be a third case,” she said.
She said the relationship started well but turned abusive after a few months. She also claimed that the man used to stalk her at her workplace.
“I fear for my life. I live in fear because he threatened that he’s going to kill me,” she said.
The accused, who works at a school in Strand, appeared in the Strand Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 29 April.
His case was postponed to 15 May, where he’s expected to apply for bail. He also appeared on 23 April for another case.
Both matters are expected to be heard together.
Western Cape police spokeswoman Thembakazi Mpendukana confirmed the cases. She said the suspect is facing a malicious damage to property charge and an assault charge linked to incidents reported earlier this year. Police are continuing with their investigation.
