Kenya Airways has confirmed that two
of its regional flights were temporarily diverted on Sunday morning due to
reduced visibility caused by fog at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

In a statement, the airline said
Flight KQ739 from Lilongwe and Flight KQ709 from Harare were redirected to Kilimanjaro
International Airport as a safety precaution after poor visibility affected
landing operations at JKIA.

The airline said both aircraft later
safely returned and landed in Nairobi after weather conditions improved.

Kenya Airways noted that the
diversions caused a number of delays affecting regional routes, adding that
efforts were underway to minimise disruptions to passengers’ travel plans.

“Following improvement in weather conditions and visibility in Nairobi,
both flights safely returned and landed at JKIA. The diversions have resulted in a few delays only affecting our
regional routes. We are actively working to minimise
disruption to our schedule and support affected guests through regular
communication updates and alternative travel arrangements where applicable,”
the airline said.

The national carrier apologised to
passengers for the inconvenience caused and reiterated that the safety of
guests and crew remained its highest priority.
