Entropy Neurodynamics granted South African patent covering methods of treating fibromyalgia using psilocybin and psilocin-based therapies

Patent provides broad protection until 2043 across treatment methods, dosing regimens, patient selection and clinical protocols

Patent represents another important addition to Entropy’s growing intellectual property portfolio

Special Report: Entropy Neurodynamics has strengthened its global intellectual property on being granted a South African patent covering methods of treating fibromyalgia using psilocybin and psilocin-based treatments.

The patent, granted under South African Patent No. 2025/01722 and titled Methods of Treating Fibromyalgia with Compositions Comprising Psilocybin, provides protection for the clinical use of psilocybin in fibromyalgia treatment.

Entropy Neurodynamics (ASX:ENP) said the patent provided protection to September 2043 and covered methods of treating fibromyalgia using psilocybin and psilocin-based treatments, strengthening its global IP portfolio.

It provides broad IP protection for psychedelic-based fibromyalgia therapies in South Africa, with claims spanning treatment methods, dosing protocols and clinical frameworks that are designed to be difficult for competitors to replicate.

The patent establishes a comprehensive IP position designed to provide meaningful commercial exclusivity as the company progresses its psychedelic medicine development programs.

This forms part of Entropy’s broader IP strategy, which aims to secure protection across key therapeutic indications and jurisdictions to maximise long-term commercial value of its psychedelic medicine platform and partnering opportunities.

The company has a growing global IP portfolio supporting development of its IV-infused psilocin TRP-8803 for large unmet medical needs.

Fibromyalgia a significant unmet need

Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain disorder characterised by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, sleep disturbance and cognitive impairment.

The condition affects millions of people globally and remains an area of significant unmet medical need, with currently available therapies providing limited efficacy for many patients.

The South African fibromyalgia treatment market was valued at US$1.9bn in 2025, representing another potential market opportunity for the company.

‘Enhances the long-term value’

CEO Mr Jason Carroll said the patent represented another important addition to Entropy’s growing IP portfolio and significantly strengthened its position in fibromyalgia

“Importantly, the claims extend well beyond simply protecting the use of psilocybin and related therapies,” he said.

“They encompass the broader therapeutic framework, including dosing protocols, patient selection, clinical assessments and treatment methodology, creating comprehensive, indication-level intellectual property protection that we believe will be difficult for competitors to replicate.”

Carroll said as Entropy continued to generate clinical evidence across its precision-controlled psychedelic platform, building a “robust global patent estate” remained a key strategic priority.

“Strong intellectual property enhances the long-term value of our development programs, supports future partnering opportunities and reinforces our commercial positioning as we seek to develop next-generation psychedelic therapies for patients with significant unmet medical needs.”
