The former CEO of Pernod Ricard Africa, Grégory Leymarie, will join Rémy Cointreau in September in the newly created role of global managing director of emerging markets.

Grégory Leymarie will join Rémy Cointreau on 1 September
He will oversee the acceleration of the Paris-headquartered company’s growth strategy and drive its strategy in Africa, the Middle East and India (AMEI), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia regions.
“Emerging markets offer a fantastic growth potential, and it is a strategic area of focus for the group,” said Rémy Cointreau’s group chief markets officer Ian McLernon.
“Grégory’s strong credentials and experience will undoubtedly enhance our ability to build our brands for the longer term and grow faster across these countries.”
Leymarie has been managing director of Groupe Thunevin Wines since October 2022. Prior to that, he spent 12 years at Pernod Ricard, holding the CEO role for the group’s African business for nearly four years.
His other roles include AMEI regional director at DGB, and co-founder of Domaine de la Part des Anges in Saint-Émilion.
Leymarie, who will be based in Dubai, added: “I am proud to join the Rémy Cointreau group and I am looking forward to leading and delivering an impactful emerging markets business strategy with the teams, in order to reach our target.”
The appointment comes in the same week that Rémy Cointreau kicked off its 2026/27 financial year with growth of 1.3% for the first quarter (Q1).
Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) delivered Q1 growth in the low- to mid-single-digit range, led by South Africa and the UK.
The group’s ‘rest of Asia’ sales, which exclude China, also increased by double digits.
