KAMULI – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party in Kamuli Municipality, Kamuli district, has swept three out of four seats of Councilors for the youth and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

In the male youth category, Alex Kayima (NRM), won with 219 votes against Ramadhan Egesa (Independent) and Lawrence  Mukooba (Common Man’s Party), who scored 24 and 24 votes respectively.

The female youth slot was taken by Shadia Namuwaya, an independent who defeated the NRM’s Esther Kirabo, with 165 votes against 92 votes, while the Peoples Front for Freedom’s (PFF) Agatha Mutesi got 4 (four) votes.

The electoral college was drawn from the youth committees of the Wards of  Nakulyaku, Buwaiswa, Kamuli-Namwendwa, and Muweebwa.  

The contesting PWDs included Rehema Birungi, NRM, who scored 26 votes, and Maurice Lwigale, who won the male Councilor for PWDs slot with 48 votes against his rival, Moses Mwase (independent), who scored 28 votes.
