InVert Graphite’s maiden Kumba resource lands at 32.2Mt at 8% TGC
About 97% of contained graphite sits in top 75m
IVG to restart drilling in September to upgrade the resource
Special Report: InVert Graphite has outlined a maiden resource of 32.2Mt at 8% total graphitic carbon for its Kumba deposit in Tanzania, less than a year after drilling first got underway.
The inferred resource contains 2.56Mt of graphite and starts at surface, with about 97% sitting within the top 75m. Mineralisation remains open down dip.
The shallow geometry lends itself to conventional open-pit mining, providing a straightforward development pathway for InVert Graphite (ASX:IVG) if future studies support extraction.
Managing director Andrew Lawson said the maiden resource confirms Kumba as a substantial, high-grade graphite system and a strong foundation for future growth.
“This Maiden Resource Estimate for Kumba is a standout result, delivering 32.2Mt at 8.0% TGC despite facing a short window for drilling post relisting last year, and doing so under budget, demonstrating the team’s ability to deliver as promised,” he said.
“Drilling is targeted to recommence in September, and our focus now shifts to upgrading the resource and collecting metallurgical testwork samples, as we continue to advance Morogoro towards development.”
Morogoro graphite project
The ~386km2 Morogoro project in Tanzania is the company’s flagship play that’s prospective for high-grade graphite.
Fieldwork in 2022 confirmed graphite mineralisation across seven prospects, with surface samples grading between 5.7% and 30% TGC.
Follow-up orientation metallurgical testwork using standard grind, flotation and cleaning on five samples from the Kumba and Kasanga occurrences produced concentrates grading up to 98%.
Earlier trenching over a roughly 2km strike returned standout intersections including 312m at 8.8% TGC and 212m at 13.5% TGC.
Initial drilling carried out in 2025 returned results such as 33m at 9.99% TGC and 45m at 9.91% TGC to form the basis of this maiden resource estimate.
The resource has been reported on the basis of potential open-pit mining, although mining dilution and ore loss have not yet been applied.
IVG plans to restart drilling in September with a focus on upgrading the resource and collecting samples for metallurgical studies.
