Rabat – Morocco took the lead in their Africa Cup of Nations round of 16 clash against Tanzania thanks to a brilliant goal from Brahim Diaz in the 64th minute.
The Real Madrid midfielder showed his class with a clever dribble past a Tanzanian defender before cutting inside and firing a precise shot with his right foot straight into the net. The move began with captain Achraf Hakimi, who delivered a well-timed pass that allowed Diaz to exploit space and create the decisive moment.
Diaz’s strike opened the scoring for the Atlas Lions after a dominant performance that had lacked finishing touches in the first hour of play. His goal lifted the atmosphere inside Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, where Moroccan fans erupted in celebration.
In a touching gesture, Diaz celebrated by raising the shirt of injured teammate Azzedine Ounahi, who was ruled out due to injury before the match. The act was seen as a sign of solidarity with Ounahi, showing the unity within the Moroccan squad.
With the advantage secured, Morocco now look to build on their momentum and push toward the quarterfinals, keeping alive their dream of a second continental title since 1976.
