POLICE seized drugs, firearms and ammunition during separate operations in Bonteheuwel and Muizenberg on Thursday, 20 August.
In Bonteheuwel, members of Operation Lockdown III conducted a strategic, intelligence-driven operation in Bonteheuwel Avenue, where they confiscated 18 sachets of cocaine. A 47-year-old man was arrested and detained at Bishop Lavis. He is expected to appear in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court once he has been charged.
In a separate incident in Rooihout Street, Bonteheuwel, police discovered and seized an imitation firearm and six rounds of ammunition. The items were booked in as exhibits.
Meanwhile, Operation Prosper members conducted an operation to combat crime in Muizenberg. In Mountain Road, Overcome Heights, two men, aged 27 and 47, were arrested for possession of drugs and possession of a Schedule 5 medicine without a prescription.
Members discovered eight Stilpane syrups, 159 sachets of tik and 500 Mandrax tablets at the premises.
The operation then led police to another address in the same street, where a 36-year-old man was found in possession of 226 Mandrax tablets and 60 sachets of tik. He was arrested for possession of drugs.
The three suspects are expected to appear in the Muizenberg Magistrate’s Court once charged.
In a separate incident in Drury Road, Capricorn, Operation Prosper members found an abandoned firearm, an imitation firearm, 20 Astra pain tablets, 40 Stilpane syrups and 73 rounds of ammunition. The items were confiscated and booked in as exhibits.
