Publication of the Presidential Decree Establishing the “Algeria Award for the Immortal Prophetic Biography” in the Official Gazette

The latest issue of the Official Gazette included the presidential decree regarding the establishment of the President of the Republic’s award named the “Algeria Award for the Immortal Prophetic Biography,” which aims to encourage the memorization of the noble Prophetic Hadith and its understanding by various age groups, and to instill Prophetic values within them, especially among the youth.

This award, which was established by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, by presidential decree, also aims to “highlight the state’s care and the Algerians’ interest in the Prophetic biography and the noble Prophetic Hadith,” according to the decree.

According to Article 3 of the decree, the “Algeria Award for the Immortal Prophetic Biography” is granted to top achievers in the competition concerned with the immortal Prophetic biography of our Master Muhammad, peace be upon him, which includes an “annual national encouragement competition for young memorizers of the noble Prophetic Hadith,” an “annual national competition in memorizing the noble Prophetic Hadith,” and an “international competition organized every three years for memorizing the noble Prophetic Hadith.”

The award is granted, according to Article 4, during a “National Week of the Noble Prophetic Biography organized on the occasion of the month of Muharram, the month of the noble Hijrah of the Prophet,” where the winners receive “a certificate of appreciation and a financial reward, valued for the category of young memorizers in the encouragement competition—memorizing 100 Hadiths along with knowing the narrator—at 500,000 DZD for the first-place winner, 350,000 DZD for the second-place winner, and 200,000 DZD for the third-place winner.”

As for the category of adult memorizers in the national competition—memorizing 400 Hadiths along with knowing the narrator—”the value of the award is estimated at 1,000,000 DZD for the first-place winner, 750,000 DZD for the second-place winner, and 500,000 DZD for the third-place winner.”

Regarding the category of adult memorizers in the international competition—memorizing 400 Hadiths along with knowing the narrator—”the award is estimated at 3,250,000 DZD for the first-place winner, 2,500,000 DZD for the second-place winner, while the value of the prize for the third-place winner is estimated at 1,500,000 DZD.”

The decree pointed out in its Article 8 the composition of the award’s judging panels, which include “national and international talents selected from among researchers in the field of Prophetic Hadith and the Prophetic biography,” provided that “the list of names of the members of the judging panels is determined by a decision of the Minister in charge of religious affairs.”
