A BARBER, 28, who according to mense served his community with pride, was amongst three people who were gunned down within 24 hours in Lavender Hill.
Moegamad Zain Sigourney died in a hailstorm of bullets when he was approached by unknown gunmen riding on bicycles.
The incident happened Sunday morning at approximately 11am.
According to a source, Sigourney was sitting in front of his barbershop situated in a Wendy house when he noticed the suspects approaching him.
The source vertel: “Moegamad was not a gangster; he had no affiliation to any gang.
“When he noticed the jongens on the bicycles pulling out firearms, he jumped up and tried to run away, but they started shooting.”
Sigourney was hit in his back by at least seven bullets. He was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel.
A resident who wanted to remain anonymous out of fear of retaliation said her son was on his way to Sigourney’s barbershop for a haircut when he heard the skote klapped.
She said: “My son was on his way there; he was almost at the barbershop for his haircut when his daughter called him back.
“It was in that moment that he turned around to go hear what his daughter wanted that the shots went off.
“Shame, Moegamad was a good person. He was not a gangster at all. He has three sons and lives with his granny.”
Attempts by the Daily Voice to reach Sigourney’s family for comment were unsuccessful.
Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said Muizenberg police registered a murder case for investigation following a shooting incident on Orchard Road, Hillview.
Twigg said the attackers fled from the scene following the attack and are yet to be apprehended.
Skaars 24 hours earlier and not far from where Sigourney was gunned down, a 40-year-old-man was shot dead in St Boniface Street in St Montague Village, Lavender Hill.
The police’s Wesley Twigg wysed two men aged 40 and 26 were shot on Saturday 5 September, at about 18:00.
Twigg reported: “Police members attended the crime scene where they found the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies.
“The 40-year-old victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victim was transported to a medical facility for treatment.
“According to reports, unknown suspects shot at the victims from a Toyota Quantum before fleeing the scene.”
The wounded 26-year-old lay injured for more than two-and-a-half hours before an ambulance arrived on the scene to transport him to a medical facility.
