Morocco’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, and the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Claver Gatete, signed the Host Country Agreement on Thursday in Rabat for the organization of the 58th session of the ECA Conference of African Ministers of Finance (COM58).
The signing took place on the sidelines of a meeting between Nadia Fettah and Claver Gatete, who is on a working visit to Morocco accompanied by a large delegation from the Commission. The visit is part of the preparations for COM58, scheduled to be held in Tangier from March 28 to April 3, 2026.
During the meeting, both parties welcomed the excellent cooperation relations between Morocco and the ECA and reviewed the progress made in the preparations for COM58.
Discussions also focused on future cooperation prospects between the Ministry and the ECA, as well as joint initiatives that could be launched within this framework at the continental level.
Headquartered in Addis Ababa, the ECA is one of the five regional commissions operating under the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), to which it reports directly.
Established in 1958, the ECA’s mandate is to promote regional integration and foster international cooperation for the economic and social development of its 54 member states, spread across five sub-regions.
The Commission operates five sub-regional offices, including the North Africa Office, which is based in Rabat.
