Crime scene
Detectives in Lari, Kiambu County,
launched a murder investigation after a 27-year-old woman was found dead in a
lodging within a building housing the bar where she worked.
The deceased was identified
as Zawadi Mwathi, a 27-year-old woman who worked at a bar in the area.
According to police, Mwathi reportedly
went missing from the bar at about 10:30pm after serving some customers.
Concerned customers began searching for her before she was discovered inside
one of the lodgings within the same building.
Police officers who visited the scene
found her body lying on a bed with her hands and neck tied with pieces of
cloth.
Her clothes were scattered on the
floor, with preliminary observations indicating that a struggle may have
occurred inside the room.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI)
officers processed and documented the scene before the body was removed and
taken to the City Mortuary for preservation and postmortem examination.
Two suspects were arrested for
questioning as detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding Mwathi’s
death.
And police in Vihiga have arrested a
man following the death of his wife, who was found with multiple injuries
inside their house in Musunji Village, Shiru Sub-Location.
Police responded to the scene, where
they found the body of a woman identified only as Gladys, aged about 35,
inside her house.
Police said the woman had multiple
marks on her body, raising suspicion that she had been assaulted before her
death.
Preliminary investigations indicate
that Gladys may have been assaulted by her husband, during the day on
Monday.
The suspect allegedly attacked her
using an electrical cable after accusing her of having an affair with his
brother.
Police arrested the man and recovered
an electrical cable from inside the house, which was taken as part of the
evidence.
Crime Scene Investigation officers
processed and documented the scene before the body was removed and taken to
Vihiga Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a
postmortem examination.
Detectives are investigating the
circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
Meanwhile, police in Nyamira have
reclassified the death of a 35-year-old man from a sudden death case to murder
following an autopsy that established he may have been strangled.
The deceased, identified
as Stephen Munyasya, a 35-year-old adult, was found unresponsive inside
his house in Ekerenyo Village, Boisanga 1 Sub-Location, Bokisaba Location,
Nyamira North Sub-County.
The matter was initially reported at
Ekerenyo Police Station on September 21, 2026, at about 5:58pm by his landlord.
The body was taken to Nyamira County
Referral Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending a postmortem
examination.
An autopsy conducted at the hospital
on Monday established that Munyasya died from hypoxia, suspected to have
resulted from manual strangulation, which led to cardio-pulmonary arrest.
Following the findings, police amended
the initial sudden death report to a murder investigation.
Detectives are expected to investigate
the circumstances surrounding Munyasya’s death and establish the person or
persons responsible.
