The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) has signed an agreement with Aga Khan Hospital Dar es Salaam to enable its members to access cancer treatment services, including radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
The agreement was signed in Dar es Salaam by NHIF Director General, Dr. Irene C. Isaka, and Aga Khan East Africa Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Zeenat Sulaiman.
Dr. Irene said the agreement aims to expand access to specialised healthcare services for NHIF members through Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam and Mwanza, as well as its 14 clinics.
She said the partnership is part of the Fund’s efforts to broaden healthcare coverage and improve access to specialised medical treatment for its members.
She added that the agreement builds on the long-standing partnership between the two institutions and strengthens access to cancer care as the government continues implementing the Universal Health Insurance scheme.
Dr. Zeenat said the partnership reinforces the institutions’ commitment to improving healthcare services for the public.
She said Aga Khan Hospital would continue to leverage its expertise, technology and experience to provide cancer treatment services in line with modern medical standards.
