Cape Town is gearing up for the much-anticipated Tweede Nuwe Jaar festival in Green Point on Monday, and for the first time, the event will be broadcast live on national television.
City spokesperson, Luthando Tyhalibongo, said tens of thousands of spectators are expected to line the parade route, with festivities kicking off at 11am.

He said the parade will make its way through the streets, concluding around 5pm before heading to the DHL stadium for the KKKA competition, which will run until 10pm.
“For the first time, the street parade will also be broadcast live on national television, starting on Sabc 2 from 12:00. This historic broadcast allows South Africans everywhere to share in the joy, pride and spectacle of the parade, further cementing its role as a unifying cultural moment,” said Tyhalibongo.
