The India U19 team is wearing black arm bands during its ICC Under-19 World Cup Super Six match against Zimbabwe at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on Tuesday.

The gesture is a mark of respect following the passing of veteran administrator I.S. Bindra, who died in New Delhi on Sunday.

Bindra served as BCCI president from 1993 to 1996 and as president of the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) from 1978 to 2014. In 2015, in tribute to his services as an administrator, the PCA Stadium in Mohali was renamed the I.S. Bindra Stadium.

He also worked as a principal advisor to the ICC during Sharad Pawar’s tenure as president.

Bindra, along with another former BCCI president, Jagmohan Dalmiya, is credited with bringing the ODI World Cup to India in 1987.
