COPS have busted a suspected drug dealer and confiscated a vrag dagga plants at a house in Sunnydale.

​On Wednesday afternoon at around 3.45pm, a joint operation between Ocean View SAPS and The City of Cape Town’s Metro Police cracked down on a home in Capri.

​Members found dagga plants of various strains, dagga cultivation equipment, bags of ready-rolled joints and a large amount of cash, believed to be money from the smokkelling.

​A 43-year-old man was arrested for dealing drugs, and he is expected to make his court appearance once he has been charged.

​Police spokesperson Constable Ndakhe Gwala confirmed: “A joint operation between Ocean View SAPS members and Metro police led to the seizure of dagga plants and huge sums of money at a house in Capri Sunnydale.

​“On Wednesday, 28 January 2026 at about 3.45pm, the team executed a search warrant at the mentioned address.

​”They found dagga plants, dagga cultivation equipment, and an undisclosed amount of cash, believed to be the proceeds of crime. A 43-year-old male suspect was arrested for dealing in drugs. Once charged, the suspect will appear in the Simons Town Magistrate’s Court for the mentioned charge.”

​In a separate incident, a woman was arrested on Saturday in Overcome Heights for running an illegal shebeen and her alcohol was confiscated.

​A resident piemped the vrou to foot-patrol officers, who made their way to the shebeen in Rasta Street and confiscated the dop and shut down the establishment.

​Public Relations Officer for the Muizenberg Community Police Forum Wayne Turner said that illegal shebeens contribute to crime in the community.

​Wayne explained: “Lieutenant-Colonel Harmans was on crime prevention foot patrol with a team of officers when she was approached by a community member who provided information about an illegal shebeen operating from a house in Rasta Street Overcome Heights.

​Police spokesperson Thembakazi Yanga confirms that the woman has since been released on an admission of guilt and paid a fine.

​Yanga said: “She got released on an admission of guilt and paid a fine. The alcohol was confiscated and the illegal establishment was closed.”
