The life of former Governor of Uganda Professor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile (Rest in Peace) continues to be celebrated and remembered by different people across the divide.
From memorial lectures, remembrance sermons, the sports fraternity has also held memorial championships in elite games as Squash and Golf.
Professor Emmanuel Tumusiime Mutebile (R.I.P)
On 24th January 2025, a memorial golf championship dubbed as the Prof. Mutebile Memorial Golf tournament will be played at Kabale Sports Club, where he was patron for over three decades.
This tournament comes a day after Professor Mutebile’s four year since his demise.
“All preparations are going on well for a successful championship. The entry fees per player are fixed at Ug.Shs 50,000 with caddy fees at Ug.Shs 20,000.” Alex Kwizera, a course member noted.

The gross players (handicap 0 to 9) will feature alongside the other golfers in the different pools, A, B and C as well as the seniors (golfers above 55 years) per either gender.
The prize structure will also be followed as per those groups.
The day’s format of play will be stableford.
For starters, Professor Mutebile was a great Ugandan economist and banker who served as the Governor for the Bank of Uganda from 2001 until his death on 23rd January 2002.
He died aged 72 years-old.
The event is organized by Bank of Uganda, GRO Foundation and Kabale Sports Club.
