Detectives are investigating a robbery in Kehancha, Kuria, Migori County, in which a man and his daughter were shot and injured.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening, shortly after the two had closed their businesses. Both were admitted to hospital with gunshot wounds, police said.
According to police, the victims were returning home in the Kwiriba area when gunmen confronted them.
The man sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach, while his ten-year-old daughter was shot in the hand.
Police reported that the attackers took three mobile phones used for Mpesa transactions before fleeing the scene. It is not yet clear how much money was stored on the devices.
Authorities suspect the suspects may have followed the victims from their shop to their home.
A team of detectives revisited the scene on Sunday and Monday and recovered spent cartridges believed to be from an AK-47 rifle.
Police said investigations are ongoing as residents express concern over an apparent rise in armed crimes in the area.
Elsewhere, police in Lang’ata sub-county, Nairobi, are investigating an incident in which a 20-year-old man allegedly stabbed his father during a domestic dispute.
According to authorities, the incident occurred on Saturday night in Mugumoini location.
The deceased, identified as Joseph Okello, 70, reportedly died after sustaining multiple stab wounds to the back and neck.
Police said the suspect, identified as Peter Olwenye, fled the scene following the incident. It is under investigation whether the suspect was under the influence of any substances at the time.
The body has been moved to a mortuary pending autopsy and further procedures, while police continue to search for the suspect.

The deceased, Richard Wanjiru, 33, was sheltering in a house that caught fire.
