Another young life lost in just 3 days eMalahleni is covered in a blanket of sadness after another young man died in a car accident.

On January 3, 19-year-old Caleb Pittaway passed away following a devastating car accident on Watermeyer Street, where his vehicle struck the back of a truck.

“We are not sure what happened. The only information we have is that he hit a truck from the back,” his father, Aubrey Pittaway, said.

“Caleb was impossible to miss. The first thing you notice when he walks through a door is his striking red hair,” Pittaway said.

He added that, although his red hair was the trademark of his appearance, it was his kind heart and bubbly personality that truly commanded attention.

His family will most miss the simple, cheerful way he entered their lives every day.

His signature greeting, a long, friendly ‘Heyy!’, was the soundtrack in their home.

When asked to capture Caleb’s essence in a single memory, Pittaway pointed to his humble and gentle nature.

“Whether it was a friend in need or a stranger requiring a hand, Caleb was always willing to help.”

Caleb leaves behind a grieving family, including his mother, father, brother, and two sisters, as well as a huge circle of friends.

Caleb’s funeral will take place on Friday.

22-year-old passes away after Christmas Eve crash

The New Year has begun on a sad note for the family and friends of 22-year-old Dylan Weber.

Weber passed away on January 1 from injuries sustained during a severe car accident on Christmas Eve.

He was flung out of his vehicle after he crashed into a wall on OR Tambo Road.
