ODM Deputy Party Leader Abdullswamad Sharrif has affirmed that the
Coast region remains united, focused and firmly committed to
collective consultation as it charts its political path toward the
2027 General Election.

Nassir said Coast leaders were engaging in sober, inclusive and
mature discussions aimed at safeguarding the region’s interests
while maintaining cohesion across the expansive coastal bloc.

“The Coast region is speaking with one voice. We are consulting
within ourselves on our political direction going into 2027, and we
are doing so calmly, respectfully and with the interests of our
people at heart,” he said.

Speaking during the Coastal salute event in Kikambala, Kilifi
County, the Mombasa Governor commended Coast leaders for resisting
divisive politics and instead prioritising unity at a time when
political realignments are taking shape nationally.

He singled out Mining Cabinet Secretary Hassan Ali Joho for
praise, describing him as a son of the Coast whose leadership has
played a stabilising role in anchoring unity across the region.

“I want to appreciate and thank CS Hassan Ali Joho for his
steady hand and commitment to unity. His leadership has been
instrumental in ensuring the Coast remains cohesive during this
important period of reflection and transition,” Nassir noted.

The ODM deputy party leader reiterated that his political stand
remains within the broad-based government framework, which he said
was the political space left by the late ODM founding leader Raila
Odinga for party supporters and partners.

He stressed that this framework continues to guide engagement and
decision-making within ODM.

“As ODM, we remain anchored in the broad-based approach that our
founding leader championed. That is the space where consultations and
partnerships must be guided by principle, not convenience,” he
said.

Nassir underscored the need for pragmatism as leaders evaluate
future political choices, cautioning that any engagements must be
grounded in the core values and ideals of the Orange Democratic
Movement.

He listed respect for devolution, open and transparent governance,
accountability and responsiveness to citizens as non-negotiable
pillars.

“We must work with those who align with our principles, those
who believe in strengthening devolution, upholding accountability and
governing in a way that places citizens at the centre of
decision-making,” he said.

He assured Coast residents that unity remains the region’s
greatest strength and pledged that consultations would continue in a
manner that promotes stability, development and long-term prosperity.

“Our unity is our power. As we consult, we will do so
responsibly, ensuring that whatever path we take protects the
stability of the Coast and advances the welfare of our people,”
Nassir said.
