As the Ugandan national cross-country team departed for the United States to compete in the 46th World Athletics Cross Country Championships, there was great optimism within camp.

The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida.

A 26-member contingent was given a formal send-off in Kampala on Monday by officials from the National Council of Sports (NCS), led by General Secretary Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel.

The senior men’s team is headlined by the vastly experienced Jacob Kiplimo, who expressed confidence ahead of the competition. “We have prepared well and are ready to give the best show at the 46th World Cross Country championships in the USA,” Kiplimo stated.

Kiplimo is joined by Dan Kibet, Dolphine Chelimo, Emmanuel Kibet, Keneth Kiprop, and Deogracius Musobo in the senior men’s 10km race.
