The initiative, part of FAO’s Nourish and Thrive project, will support 4,000 vulnerable households with subsidised access to high‑quality agricultural inputs, including drought‑tolerant seed varieties.

FAO says the intervention is designed not only to avert hunger but to strengthen long‑term resilience in districts hardest hit by climate shocks.

At the voucher distribution event, local leaders, agro‑dealers and community members gathered to mark what FAO described as a significant step toward transforming agrifood systems in drought‑prone areas.

The system enables farmers to redeem input packages through accredited suppliers, improving transparency and ensuring timely access to essential resources.

FAO also used the mission to train suppliers on its digital identification, delivery and empowerment application platform, which manages beneficiary data and supports cash‑ and voucher‑based assistance.

The training covered system navigation, troubleshooting and customer‑service standards, with on‑site monitoring to reinforce accountability.
