A 37-year-old man from Chipinge has been sentenced to nine years in prison by the Chipinge Magistrates’ Court for the attempted murder of his wife during a violent domestic dispute.
The incident occurred on the night of November 15, 2025, around 11:00 PM in the Chief Mapungwana area. The offender returned home to find his 34-year-old wife absent. When she returned and could not provide a satisfactory explanation for her whereabouts, a dispute escalated.
In a fit of rage, the man armed himself with a machete and attacked his wife, striking her once on the left cheek and three times on the hand, inflicting deep and serious injuries.
Three years of the sentence were suspended on condition of good behavior, resulting in an effective prison term of six years.
