The third and fourth matches of AFCON qualifiers are scheduled for 9 and 17 November while the final two matches will be played between 22 and 30 March 2027.

The tournament itself, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, will be played between 19 June and 17 July 2027.

AFCON 2027 DRAW: BAFANA BAFANA IN GROUP D WITH KENYA

Now, Bafana Bafana will battle it out against co-hosts Kenya, Guinea and Eritrea after they were all drawn in Group D.

Of course, Kenya have already qualified as co-hosts and their results in their qualifiers will not be taken into consideration.

As per the norm, the top two teams will automatically advance to the knockout stages but in Group D, three, Kenya included, will progress.

This draw means Benni McCarthy will get the chance to face Bafana Bafana for the first time as head coach.

McCarthy remains one of Bafana Bafana’s icons with his long-standing goalscoring record of 31 goals during his playing days.

Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana’s focus is firmly on doing well in the 2026 FIFA World Cup with Hugo Broos set to announce his squad on 27 May.
